At Acara Partners, we have team members in many different departments who are experts at what they do. We are starting a monthly series where we invite members of each section of our team to share their “Best Practices.”
This month, we are featuring our social media team, Julie Vincent and Donna LaRocque.
Our Top 5 Tips for Successful Social Media:
- Identify Your Audience
- Create a Calendar
- Optimize Your Accounts
- Stay Active
- Be Human
Before you can begin posting on social media for your business, you must first figure out who you are trying to reach. It’s helpful to try to envision an “ideal” client, a hypothetical person who best represents many of the traits that your audience will have. For example, if your business is a local medspa, your “ideal client” might be a woman in her mid-to-late 40s, who is a mother and active on social media. Ask yourself, what does this “ideal client” want to see? How much time does your ideal client spend on social media? What do you want them to think about your brand? When you can identify who you’re trying to reach through your social media, you have a clearer idea of how to successfully reach them.
There’s nothing better to help a brand grow its social media presence than being consistent in posting (aside from producing great content, that is). As you begin to grow a following on social media, your audience will look forward to seeing your content. Creating a calendar allows you to plan out content for weeks in advance and avoid the last-minute scramble to think of what to post. This gives you and your brand the freedom to explore new projects and creative posts to make!
In order to use your social media to the best of its abilities, make sure that you are using all of the features available to you. Having a complete profile with links to your website, easy access to your products/services and more will allow you to become not only a more visited brand to your audience but a more trusted brand as well. The more your audience can learn about you and easily interact with you, the more they will want to keep coming back.
Brands today must be very active on social media. Staying active on social media allows you to stay relevant to your audience, which in turn allows you to see higher engagement with that audience. Even when you don’t have lots of content to post, you can still stay active by using the disappearing “Stories” feature, liking, commenting on and sharing posts that resonate with your brand’s message, and interacting with your audience on your own posts. Finding new ways to stay active might even help you in creating new content!
When it comes to social media, above all else, it’s important to let your audience know that there’s a real person behind the screen, not a robot. Showing compassion, patience and a little bit of what makes your brand so special to your clients will go a long way in social media. The more you can connect with your audience, the bigger that audience will grow!
