It seems that everywhere you turn, businesses are offering you opportunities to join their loyalty programs. As we know from personal experience, the benefits of joining these programs far outweigh the negatives, which are hardly any, other than managing all the loyalty cards in your wallet- yet nowadays there are apps for that too.
Loyalty programs yield the following benefits:
- Keep customers/reward clients
- Prompt additional purchases
- Create profits
- Differentiated services for loyalty clients
- Cross selling and promotions
- Attract new clients
However, the bigger question is: should I use them in my medical spa and will it be successful? Acara’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Angela Taylor, shared her insight on loyalty programs and their use in medical spas.
Why are loyalty programs so effective for medical spas?
Retaining clients is less expensive than gaining new ones, so any way you can keep the clients you have happy and engaged, the better. Loyalty programs are a great way to do both – you reward them for certain actions, and encourage them to continue those actions, whether it be a purchase, or referring a friend, or something else. If your reward program is marketed correctly and is exciting enough, those clients will actively promote your business for you because it, in turn, will benefit them as well.
What types of loyalty programs does Acara find to be the most effective?
Rewarding people for things they were already going to do is great, but in order to get more out of it they should go a step further to encourage behaviors that will help the business on an ongoing basis. Examples include: repeat purchases, event attendance, referring a friend, trying a new service, liking your Facebook page, etc. Rewards programs that offer a range of ways for your clients to benefit, but are also easy for your staff to manage (very important!) work best. It’s also helpful to offer a general reward, or a range of reward choices – something that can apply to everyone, or something for each level of service – rather than limiting the choices, thus making the rewards less enticing to some, and the program less exciting for them overall.
What are the benefits of Acara managing and implementing the program?
Acara can identify the few, very key behaviors that will help the business long-term, as well as the criteria that make a loyalty program exciting for the consumer and simple for your staff to implement. Knowing what kind of programs are key to creating ambassadors for your business is very important.
How long does it take for a program to work?
It usually takes about 2-3 months to see momentum build, in terms of getting the word out there to your clients about the program, marketing it clearly and consistently enough with your client base that it becomes well-known to them.
It can seem very overwhelming to implement a loyalty program into your business, as it takes a great program, training and consistency with your staff to make it work. At Acara, this is what we do every day and can create a program that would be good for your business as well. Talk with us if you are interested in a customized loyalty program at 203.488.002.
